SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (October 9, 2017) – BGE is expanding its Public Works operations in San Antonio with the addition of Abdel Hamed, PE, as a senior project manager.
Hamed brings more than 25 years of experience to the position and will focus on project delivery, business development and client management.
“His background as an equipment engineer, contractor and engineering consultant provides our team with a significant technical resource, and the relationships he’s developed within the water and wastewater industry allow for BGE to compete statewide on a variety of complex engineering projects and programs,” said Roman Grijalva, BGE Public Works director.
Hamed earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University (formerly Texas A&I) in Kingsville, Texas, and during his career, he has gained extensive experience with pumping systems, including the rehabilitation of many existing lift stations.
“He is adept at large diameter pipeline design, including tunneling and trenchless installations,” Grijalva said. “His previous experience as a contractor allows him to see his designs through a contractor’s perspective, which minimizes errors and mitigates unseen risk. We’re excited to have him join the team.”
