North Austin, TX – We’re proud to spotlight Emily Petrosky, Project Manager, Transportation Systems, who has been selected to serve on the 2025-26 Texas State MATHCOUNTS Committee. Her appointment marks a significant milestone in her ongoing commitment to STEM education and professional service, and it reflects the values we hold dear at BGE – leadership, community engagement, and a passion for shaping the future.
Emily’s journey with MATHCOUNTS began at the chapter level, where she served as the Travis Chapter Coordinator for 4 years. During her tenure, she successfully hosted three in-person competitions, collaborating closely with fellow committee members and BGE colleagues Elena Ramon and Imani Elston.
Now, as a member of the Texas State Committee, Emily will serve a three-year term supporting Region III chapter coordinators and helping organize the statewide competition. Her role will be instrumental in ensuring that students from across Texas can showcase their mathematical talents in a dynamic and inspiring environment.
Emily’s involvement in MATHCOUNTS is more than a personal achievement – it’s a reflection of BGE’s broader mission to support STEM initiatives and invest in the next generation of engineers and innovators. Through her volunteer work, Emily builds bridges between professional engineers in TSPE and young students who may one day lead the industry.
“MATHCOUNTS is a math competition for 6th to 8th graders, and it’s incredible to see the excitement, talent, and dedication these bright young students have,” Emily shared. “Volunteering for this competition has been an amazing opportunity to work with other PEs in TPSE and get to see these truly incredible students that are the future of our STEM profession shine on a stage just for them.”
