Houston, TX – We’re pleased to welcome John Harvill to our Surveying team as a Director in our Houston office. With over 28 years of experience across field operations, project management, and survey program leadership, John brings a depth of expertise that will further strengthen our surveying practice and enhance the service we provide to our clients.
John’s career spans a wide range of surveying disciplines, including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, extensive work in the oil & gas sector, and county right-of-way and flood control projects. Most recently, he served as Director of Surveying at Weisser Engineering & Surveying, where he managed company-wide survey scopes and budgets, guided project managers, and oversaw survey field staff. His leadership supported both public and private sector clients on complex, multi-phase projects.
Throughout his career, John has advanced through roles such as Crew Chief, Field Crew Coordinator, Survey Tech Manager, and Project Manager. His responsibilities have included coordinating up to 16 field crews, processing field data, developing deed sketches, and supporting boundary and right-of-way determinations. His early work also included construction layout for major transportation initiatives, including the first segment of the DART passenger rail system in Dallas.
Earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from Belhaven University, John graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the James W. Park Award for Business Administration. He is currently completing a Cadastral Survey Certificate through the University of Wyoming to support multi-state licensure. Beyond his professional work, John serves as TSPS Chapter 9 President and co-hosts the Houston Area Study Group for RPLS and SIT candidates, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the surveying profession.
