Meet Joshberta Ehrich, a bold and charismatic senior Marketing major at Texas Southern University based in our corporate office in Houston, Texas. From discovering a passion for personal branding to interning at BGE through the Harris County Leadership Internship Program (HCLIP), her journey is all about growth, leadership, and making meaningful connections.
1. Tell us about yourself.
My name is Joshberta Ehrich and I’m a senior Marketing major at Texas Southern University. I’m a proud Liberian American and the middle child of two siblings —which honestly, I love! I’m also the first in my family to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences and opportunities that decision has opened up for me. Taking a leap of faith and moving nearly twenty hours from home has shaped me in ways I never expected.
2. What three words would you use to describe your personality?
Bold. Clairvoyant. Charismatic.
3. What inspired choosing Marketing?
Truthfully, it all started with a video from one of my favorite content creators. They talked about the power of personal branding – how learning to market yourself first is key to gaining attention for anything else you offer. That message stuck with me. Once I started doing research into the field, I realized there’s a whole discipline built around those very skills. I was drawn to the creativity, hands-on experiences, and versatility marketing offers. It just clicked.
4. What led you to pursue HCLIP?
My school constantly shares opportunities for scholarships, internships, and seminars – and HCLIP appeared at the right moment when I was looking for a summer internship close to home or in Houston. I was excited to see they offered a marketing and communications pathway. The more I learned, the more inspired I became by the idea of growing as a young, professional leader. Even though I wasn’t sure how public policy would intersect with my field, I stepped outside my comfort zone, applied, and landed a placement at BGE.
