Merrell Honored with 2021 Pat Brown Leadership Award

Sean Merrell was recently named the recipient of the 2021 Pat Brown Leadership Award. This award is named after BGE founder L.S. “Pat” Brown and recognizes an employee who exemplifies leadership in the community and the BGE Way.

Merrell is a senior project manager in the Transportation Systems department in the North Texas region, and he was selected for the honor because of his strong commitment to serving his community and the success of his leadership in the AEC industry. His community involvement includes volunteering with the Boy Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, the North Texas Food Bank and the Adopt-a-Family program. He is also very active in helping support and encourage the next group of young engineers by participating in various AEC causes, like serving as a judge for future cities challenges and as a club speaker for ASCE.

Merrell is currently the President of ASCE’s Texas chapter and serves on multiple community-oriented committees and boards for the City of Frisco and Collin County. He has received numerous awards in recognition of his contributions and leadership in the industry over the years, including various ASCE engineer of the year awards.

Merrell’s accomplishments and level of community involvement are well-noted and recognized by his coworkers and BGE leadership.

“Sean’s efforts in his community are a great reflection of the excellence the Pat Brown Leadership Award is intended to honor,” said Doug Dillon, PE, BGE board member and North Texas region operations leader. “His commitment to serving and leading is evident, and I am proud to see him receive this award.”
