Elyson is a 3,600-acre, master-planned community located in Harris County near SH 99 and FM 529. Upon completion, the development will include approximately 5,500 single-family homes, as well as shopping centers, office buildings and multi-family dwellings, and is anticipated to have six municipal utility districts (MUDs). BGE has been providing land development, public works, survey and transportation systems services for Newland Communities since the project’s inception.

A unique feature of the project is its storm water drainage system, given the development’s proximity to Cypress Creek. Through a collaborative effort, BGE carefully planned each phase of the project to balance the drainage requirements with the client’s development plan. The overall drainage infrastructure includes approximately 4.5 miles of grassed channels and eight mitigation basins. This solution provides an aesthetically pleasing appeal while providing overflow mitigation for the floodplains from Bear Creek, South Mayde Creek and the Cypress Creek overflow.

Additional grassed channels, mitigation basins and control structures will be added in the future phases.
