Environmental Stewardship: BGE Supports CapturePoint’s CO₂ Storage Field Development
CapturePoint, LLC proposes to develop an underground CO₂ storage field in Vernon Parish, designed to support regional carbon reduction initiatives and long-term emissions management. The project will include multiple CO₂ injection wells, a pump station, access roads, and flowlines connecting the system’s core infrastructure.
BGE is providing comprehensive environmental services to support the project from early planning through construction. Our team conducted wetland and waterbody delineations and completed a protected species assessment to identify sensitive resources and reduce potential impacts. We also developed permitting strategies and timelines that guide the project through a clear regulatory pathway.
BGE is managing all USACE Section 404 permitting needs in support of the project’s Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and engineering basis of design. In addition, we will prepare and administer LPDES stormwater permits, along with conducting project stormwater inspections to ensure proper site controls.
During construction begins, BGE is providing dedicated environmental inspection services to verify compliance, maintain regulatory alignment, and protect natural resources throughout on-site activities.
Through strong agency coordination, technical expertise, and field oversight, BGE is helping deliver a responsible, sustainable carbon storage project that supports Louisiana’s commitment to energy transition and environmental stewardship.
