BGE announced today the promotion of René Silvas, RPLS, to Director of BGE North Texas Survey.
A Texas native, Silvas brings over 28 years of experience to the position, including the management of projects in the public and private sector for engineering design, control networks, topographic and SUE surveys, research, and right-of-way acquisition. His broad project background has afforded opportunities to collaborate with many disciplines including engineers, landscape architects, environmentalists, GIS/planners, and construction managers.
He earned an associate’s degree in Surveying & Mapping Technology from Tyler Junior College and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Tyler.
Silvas serves on the Item Writers Committee for the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying, is co-chairman for the Tarrant County College, South Advisory Committee for Mechanical & Industrial Technology Department, and is a member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors.
