In the early 1960s, a group of developers and engineers envisioned a scenic highway that would encircle the greater Houston region. This highway, the Grand Parkway (SH 99) was proposed as a 180-mile loop that would pass through seven counties.
BGE has worked with the Grand Parkway Association, Harris County Toll Road Authority, TxDOT and Design-Build Contractor Zachry Odebrecht on more than half of the existing project (Segments C, D, E, F-1, F-2, and G). In addition to preliminary engineering and final designs, BGE has also provided surveying, environmental permitting, drainage design, structural design, public involvement, and construction services for more than 90 miles of this project.
Segment D was opened to traffic in April 2014, and Segment E was opened to traffic in December 2013. Segments F-1, F-2, and G opened in 2015.
