Expanding Surveying Services in Florida
BGE, Inc. is excited to welcome Kevin Humbert as the new Subsurface Utility Manager in our Tampa, Florida office. This strategic addition marks a significant milestone for BGE as we expand our survey service offerings throughout Florida.
Kevin is a native Floridian, born and raised in Tampa. He brings more than 13 years of experience in the specialized field of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), beginning his career in the field—working on the back of a vacuum truck, digging holes, and locating utilities. From there, he progressed to Utility Coordinator, led field crews, managed client relationships, and built strong partnerships across the industry. His hands-on experience with both small- and large-scale projects has earned him a reputation as a trusted expert in the field.
Kevin’s extensive project background includes managing SUE services for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), including the Gateway Express Design Project.
New Equipment, Enhanced Capabilities
Kevin’s addition marks a turning point as BGE expands its service line capabilities. BGE’s Florida offices now operate its own hydro excavation vacuum equipment, allowing BGE to deliver full SUE Quality Levels, including Level A—the most comprehensive form of data collection.
Quality Level A allows for vertical data acquisition, enabling design solutions that move beyond horizontal mapping (Level B) and offering more accurate utility information for planning and construction. This advanced capability benefits our clients by:
- Reducing outsourcing costs
- Control of project schedule
- Increasing accuracy and reducing design risks
- Creating more touchpoints with clients to align expectations
- Supporting faster, real-time decisions in the field
Kevin recently shared an example where Level A data provided immediate onsite discovery that allowed a client to shift the location of a mast arm, avoiding workflow interruptions and costly redesigns.

Since joining BGE, Kevin has already begun collaborating with other Florida practice leaders to incorporate SUE Level A services into our One Team Approach for client delivery. Kevin looks forward to building the service and delivering results that exceed expectations—both for our internal teams and external partners.
