Michael Fitzgerald Named Houston Regional Leader, Chris Kuykendall Named North Texas Regional Leader, and Jeff Safe Named Managing Director of Houston Land Development
HOUSTON, TX — BGE, Inc., a leading multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm, today announced three senior leadership appointments as part of the company’s long-term succession strategy. Michael Fitzgerald, PE, F.SAME, has been named Houston Regional Leader, and Chris Kuykendall, PE, has been named North Texas Regional Leader. Jeff Safe, PE, has been appointed Managing Director of Houston Land Development, succeeding Fitzgerald in that role.
The appointments build on the recent elevation of Rodney Heisch, PE, to Chief Corporate Officer and Mike Garrison, PE, to Chief Operating Officer, reflecting BGE’s continued commitment to developing leaders from within.
Michael Fitzgerald, PE, F.SAME — Houston Regional Leader

Michael Fitzgerald brings more than 30 years of civil engineering experience, 22 of them with BGE, to his role as Houston Regional Leader. A respected leader in the Houston market, Fitzgerald has played a significant role in shaping land development and infrastructure projects throughout the region. His expertise spans master-planned communities, municipal utility district engineering, and complex land development initiatives. In addition to serving as District Engineer for multiple districts, he has held key leadership roles in professional organizations that support the growth and advancement of Houston’s engineering community.
“I am honored to lead a region that has played such an important role in BGE’s history,” said Fitzgerald. “What makes this opportunity especially meaningful is the people. Our talented team of professionals, longstanding client relationships, and strong culture have been the foundation of our success. I believe these are the things that set us apart. I look forward to building on that momentum, continuing to deliver exceptional service to our clients, and helping position the Houston Region for continued growth and long-term success.”
Chris Kuykendall, PE — North Texas Regional Leader

Chris Kuykendall brings 31 years of experience with BGE to his new role as North Texas Regional Leader. Widely recognized as one of the architects of the firm’s transportation practice, Kuykendall has helped lead major infrastructure programs that have transformed communities throughout Texas while supporting BGE’s expansion into emerging markets, including Florida.
“Over the past 31 years, I’ve seen firsthand what makes BGE special—our people, our culture, and our willingness to embrace new opportunities,” said Kuykendall. “North Texas continues to be one of the most dynamic regions in the country, and I am excited to help shape its next chapter. I look forward to driving sustainable growth, fostering innovation, and creating opportunities for our teams and clients to succeed together.”
Jeff Safe, PE — Managing Director, Houston Land Development

Jeff Safe, who brings nearly 30 years of industry experience, including 13 years with BGE, will succeed Fitzgerald as Managing Director of Houston Land Development. “I am honored to lead such a talented team and build upon the strong foundation that already exists within Houston Land Development,” said Safe.
As BGE Owners, members of the firm’s Board of Directors, and Regional Leaders, Fitzgerald and Kuykendall will guide regional operations, strategic growth, and key company-wide initiatives that support BGE’s long-term vision. Safe, also a BGE Owner, will lead the day-to-day operations, growth, client service, and talent development efforts of Houston Land Development, one of the firm’s largest and most established business units.
“The future of BGE depends on our ability to develop great people and create opportunities for them to lead,” said Randy Randermann, President and Chief Executive Officer of BGE. “Mike, Chris and Jeff are exceptional leaders who have helped shape our company for decades and are deeply committed to developing the next generation of talent. Their appointments reflect our commitment to promoting from within and building an organization positioned for long-term success. I am excited to see the impact they will have on our people, our clients, and the communities we serve.”
