BGE puts excellence in the fast lane
In 2024, BGE’s IH-35 Waco 4B was selected by the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association as its Project of the Year for Transportation. A seven-mile, $341 million project, it was considered the largest design-bid-build project in the state, earning:

Acceleration through innovation
With virtual reality, 3D modeling, and proactive risk management and communication strategies, BGE fast-tracked the full-facility design of two drain tunnels and a concrete pump station, lowering Austin’s I-35 by 40 feet and widening it to two lanes, adding greenspace overhead.
