BGE is proud to announce its participation in North Carolina’s Regional Future City Competition as a sponsor and mentor for participants. The competition is a statewide program that teaches 6th-, 7th– and 8th-grade students problem-solving techniques through hands-on project- and problem-based learning.
Students partner with educators and engineering mentors to plan a city using digital software. They must also describe their research and implement solutions to engineering problems via city essays, tabletop displays and 3-D scale models of their cities using recycled materials.
“BGE is committed to serving our communities, with education being one of our main areas of focus,” said Eric Hampton, Director of Land/Site in BGE’s Charlotte office. “We look forward to participating in the event and having an impact on the future engineers in the community.”
Representatives from BGE’s office in Charlotte will be in attendance to serve as mentors and present a winner with BGE’s first-ever “Serving. Leading. Solving.” Award.
The competition will be on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at North Carolina State University’s McKimmon Center. To learn more about the event, click here.
