RE:  BGE’s Response to COVID-19

To our valued clients and friends,

BGE is taking the necessary steps to meet the needs of our clients during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We are following recommendations from the CDC, as well as local and state officials. We have adopted preventative measures in our offices and work environments to ensure we are providing a safe workplace.

The Department of Homeland Security designates our industry as “critical essential.” Industries with this designation include transportation, public works, and water and wastewater. In addition, at the local level, the designation of “critical essential” typically extends to the residential and commercial construction markets, of which we are a significant part. As a critical infrastructure company, while many of our staff members are working remotely, our offices will continue to remain open, and our hours unchanged, supporting our industry and BGE critical essential personnel in service to our clients and communities.

We are in close communication with building management in our various locations and believe the risk of contamination remains low. However, we have put into place the following business protocols:

  • Our employees have heightened their awareness and precautionary behavior by following guidelines set forth by the CDC for handwashing and social distancing.
  • All meetings (internal and external) are taking place virtually. BGE uses Microsoft Teams to communicate by phone, video and chat so that all employees can attend from their desk or a remote location.
  • All public modes of business travel have been canceled. We are asking that employees use good judgment and follow the CDC travel guidance when making personal travel plans.

As engineers, scientists, surveyors and planners, we understand that we provide critical infrastructure solutions. Ensuring continuity of business is essential to our communities, our clients and our future. We are taking these actions so that our employees safeguard their health while recognizing the critical role we play for our clients.

We anticipate that things will continue to change in the days ahead. Should we make a significant change to our protocols, we will let you know. We will make it through this together!

Kind regards,
